Why Pomegranate Fruit?

You may wonder why the pomegranate fruit plays such a prominent role behind MAYCO. The pomegranate fruit is a superfood and is widely known for its high antioxidant nutrients. It is dubbed as the King of Antioxidants in medical scriptures, whereas in cultural aspects, it is a symbol of abundance, fertility, and sanctity. Despite its nutritious benefits, it is not common in Malaysia. Selling pomegranate juice alone is not enough to create a bridge between the people and a deeper understanding of the pomegranate fruit, which formed one of the biggest challenges for our founders to face. Secondly, neither of them is culinary trained aside from simple juicing at home. So, to convey their message to the community, they came up with an idea: creating an array of hand-crafted pomegranate-themed mixed juices. And that is how MAYCO came to be!

Where We All Began

Founded in the year 2001, MAYCO is Kuma & Hachi's most prominent pomegranate fruit brand. It is also known as the first brand to pioneer pomegranate fruit juice brand in Malaysia. Its journey begins under the name of Delicoz. Back then it was a humble stall primarily serving freshly squeezed pomegranate juice and pomegranate fruits to the locals of KL in AEON Quill City Supermarket. Once the seed has been planted, from there sprouts a glimmer of hope. Delicoz's success would eventually allow them to venture to two more outlets: AEON Mid Valley and AEON Bandar Utama.

Upwards and Onwards

3 years later, Delicoz pomegranate juice has firmly planted its feet within reach of Kuala Lumpur's beating heart. This time at Cold Storage Suria KLCC under a new name, Delimas. Since its opening, Delimas has successfully grabbed the hearts of Malaysians and tourists alike, selling two hundred to three hundred bottles of pomegranate juice a day! Soon the term "variety" comes to light. With this in mind, Delimas had its menu extended to include an array of mixed fruit juice and its signature pomegranate mixed juice series.

In the year 2012, Delimas flourished into MAYCO with all its pomegranate mixed juice being freshly hand-made locally using premium ingredients. Today, it has over twenty flavours along with freshly packed cut fruits, rainbow smoothies, and unique mixed juices such as Durian Mango! With its rich array of hand-crafted delicacies, MAYCO has created a lot of fond memories for locals, and even attracted the attention of international celebrities like Maria Cordero, who had MAYCO featured in her culinary show in 2017!

In 2022, MAYCO merged with Kuma & Hachi, shedding a new light on the growing industry. Its growing demand in the market has allowed us to create more exciting flavours not only in Malaysia but also in Southeast Asia as it brings us such joy to see everyone savour the great taste, and bask in the pomegranate fruit's nutritional benefits. MAYCO is and has always been a memorable brand among health enthusiasts in Malaysia, and soon, across the globe. Its artisan-mixed juice has touched many Malaysians, and now, you are invited to experience it yourself.
