Using a high-magnification Slit-Lamp, we examine the anterior segment from "front to back." This includes checking the eyelashes and eyelids for Blepharitis, Styes, Chalazion, Trichiasis, or Entropion. We also inspect the conjunctiva for Pterygium, Pinguecula, or Subconjunctival Haemorrhage, and the cornea for Keratitis, Corneal Ulcers, Corneal Opacities, Limbal Injection, or signs of Hypoxia. Furthermore, we assess the anterior chamber for Uveitis and the crystalline lens for Cataracts.

For enhanced precision, we utilize Corneal Topography. This 3D mapping is the gold standard for diagnosing corneal diseases like Keratoconus and Pellucid Marginal Degeneration (PMD), while also ensuring the most accurate Specialized Contact Lens fitting.

Finally, our Fundus Examination allows us to view the back of the eye to rule out Diabetic Retinopathy, Macular Degeneration, and various Retinal Disorders.

1. Detailed Slit-Lamp Biomicroscopy

The slit-lamp is a high-powered microscope that allows us to examine the structures of your eye in layers. We conduct a thorough "front-to-back" assessment of the anterior segment.

Eyelids & Eyelashes: We screen for inflammatory and structural issues such as Blepharitis (eyelid inflammation), Trichiasis (inward-growing lashes), Entropion (inward-turning lids), and localized infections like Styes or Chalazion.

Why check eye pressure? High IOPis the primary manageable risk factor for Glaucoma. Because Glaucoma typically has no symptoms until permanent vision loss occurs, regular pressure checks are the only way to catch it early.

What causes Glaucoma? It is usually caused by a buildup of fluid (aqueous humor) that cannot drain properly. This creates pressure that damages the optic nerve.
