- Active ingredient: Betamethasone 17 valerate, equivalent to betamethasone 0.1% w/w in the cream base. Includes chlorocresol 0.15% w/w as a preservative
Indications
- Indicated for corticosteroid responsive inflammatory dermatoses, such as eczema, atopic dermatitis, contact dermatitis, seborrhoeic dermatitis, neurodermatitis, psoriasis variants, and intertrigo
Instructions
Dosage & Application
- Intended for external use only. Apply a thin layer sparingly onto clean, dry, intact skin. Rub gently into the affected area.
- Apply 2 to 3 times daily initially; when improvement occurs, gradually reduce frequency and discontinue.
Precautions
- Do not apply on broken, infected, or sensitive skin areas, including face, eyes, mouth, anal/genital regions, or around the mouth (unless specifically advised).
- Avoid occlusive dressings unless directed by a healthcare professional to reduce systemic absorption risk.
- For children under 1 year, use is contraindicated; in older children use only under medical supervision due to risk of systemic effects such as adrenal suppression.
Side Effects
- Possible local effects: burning, itching, redness, dryness, thinning of skin, stretch marks, changes in pigmentation, increased hair growth, acneiform eruptions or perioral dermatitis.
- With prolonged or extensive application, there is risk of systemic corticosteroid absorption, causing features like Cushingoid facies, adrenal suppression, weight gain, menstrual irregularities, osteoporosis, proximal myopathy, hypertension, and elevated blood sugar.
If You Miss a Dose
- Skip the missed application and resume the regular schedule. Do not apply extra to make up for a missed dose.
Duration of Use
- Should be used for the shortest duration necessary, typically no longer than 14 days in adults, and up to 7 days in children. If redness, irritation, or no improvement occurs beyond that, consult your physician
