Trajenta Duo is indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycaemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus when treatment with both linagliptin and metformin is appropriate. This includes patients who are inadequately controlled on:
Maximally tolerated doses of metformin monotherapy.
Dual combination therapy with metformin and a sulphonylurea.
Dual combination therapy with metformin and insulin.
Free combination therapy with linagliptin and metformin.
For patients switching from co-administration of linagliptin and metformin, Trajenta Duo should be initiated at the dose of linagliptin and metformin already being taken.
Dosage:
Take 1 tablet twice daily (each tablet contains 2.5 mg linagliptin and 500 mg metformin hydrochloride).
Follow the exact dose prescribed by your doctor; do not change the dose without consulting them.
How to Take:
Take the tablet with meals (preferably with breakfast and dinner).
Taking it with food helps reduce stomach upset caused by metformin.
Missed Dose:
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember.
If it’s almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose.
Do not double up doses to make up for the missed one.
Precautions:
Inform your doctor if you have kidney or liver problems before starting.
Avoid excessive alcohol intake while taking this medication.
Notify your healthcare provider if you plan to have any surgery or diagnostic tests involving iodinated contrast agents, as you may need to temporarily stop the medication.
Storage:
Store at room temperature, away from moisture and heat.
Keep out of reach of children.
Regular Monitoring:
Regular check-ups are necessary to monitor blood sugar levels and kidney function.
