X-ray Fluorescence Detection Technology Based on Energy Dispersion

X-ray refers to the general term of electromagnetic radiation with wavelengths ranging from 0.01 to 10nm. The atoms of each element have their own characteristic X-ray.
When a beam of X-rays interacts with an atom, if its energy is greater than or equal to the binding energy of the electron on a certain orbit of the atom, the electron on the orbit will be expelled, and the corresponding hole will be formed, so that the atom is in an excited state. The energy released by different outer electrons when they transition to holes is different, resulting in a series of radiation. According to the theory of quantum mechanics, when the energy released by the outer electron transition to the inner hole is released in the form of radiation, it produces X-ray fluorescence. The energy of X-ray fluorescence is equal to the energy difference between the two energy levels of the atom, so it can be characterized as the characteristic X-ray or X-ray fluorescence of the element. Within a certain concentration range, the fluorescence intensity is proportional to the element content. Qualitative and quantitative analysis of elements can be carried out.
