• The Food Science and Engineering (Chinese-taught) undergraduate programme (4 years) is delivered in Chinese and covers food biochemistry, food technology, food biotechnology, microbiology (food orientation), food chemistry, instrumental analysis, food analysis, food nutrition and hygiene, food safety science, food plant design and environmental protection, chemical engineering economics and technology, food microbiology laboratory, food analysis laboratory, and integrated food laboratory, building foundations in food biochemistry, food technology and food biotechnology, food chemistry, instrumental and food analysis, food nutrition and hygiene, food safety science, food plant design, and laboratory practice applications through coursework and projects (aligned with “Core subjects” and the application process below; modules follow programme notices).

Career pathways (overview)

• Graduates may pursue roles in food and beverage manufacturing enterprises, food processing and equipment manufacturing companies, food testing and quality inspection organisations, catering and central kitchen supply chain enterprises, and food R&D and nutrition/health institutions, including food biochemistry and food technology application support, food biotechnology and food-oriented microbiology technology support, food chemistry and instrumental/food analysis coordination, and food nutrition, hygiene, food safety science and food plant design application support, subject to employers’ requirements and recruitment policies.
• They may also pursue further postgraduate study in food science and engineering, food science, grain engineering, agricultural product processing, nutrition and food hygiene, and related MA/PhD programmes, subject to admissions.
