Feature | Typical Traits |
---|---|
Size / Build | One of the largest domestic cat breeds. Males usually weigh ~5.4-9.1 kg (about 12-20 lbs), females somewhat smaller, ~3.6-6.8 kg (≈8-15 lbs). |
Body | Muscular, sturdy, long body; proportionate legs (though not as stocky as some breeds). Long, bushy tail. |
Coat | Semi-long / long, silky, soft. Lacks a dense undercoat, which helps reduce matting and makes grooming easier than some thick-under-coated breeds. |
Color & Pattern | Several point-colors plus dilutes: seal, blue, chocolate, lilac, red, cream etc. Patterns include colourpoint, mitted, bicolor, van, lynx, tortie point, etc. |
Eyes / Face | Striking, wide-set blue eyes. Head is soft wedge-shaped, ears medium-sized, slightly rounded tips. Face has gentle expression. |
Very affectionate, gentle, calm. Many Ragdolls enjoy being held, snuggled, and will go limp (i.e. relax their body) when picked up. That's part of their defining trait.
Social: they tend to follow their owners around, enjoy being part of whatever is going on. Good with children, other pets.
Moderate energy. They aren’t hyperactive; however, they do enjoy play, interactive toys. They have bursts of activity (“crazy 15 minutes”) but largely are relaxed.
They're relatively quiet — not overly vocal except perhaps to demand attention, food, or express affection.
