Risk Based Thinking

Introduction

This course covers the core principle of Risk Based Thinking in a Management System conforming to ISO 9001 and ISO 14001. This session shall cover the strategic, tactical and operational risks of an organization’s quality and environmental management systems as required by the ISO 9001 standard. Weaknesses in management of risks in administration, human resources, physical security aspects, outsourcing, production, QA, warehouse, suppliers, IT, finance, etc. shall be discussed.

• The intended outcomes of the ISO 9001 QMS and ISO 14001 EMS
• An overview of ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 requirements related to risk management
• Understand what is risk-based thinking
• Overview of strategic planning (Vision, Mission, Values)
• Establish the context of the organization

Module 2: Risk Management Methodology And Application

• Overview of the risk management methodology
• Identifying risk and opportunities
• Analyzing risks
• Evaluating risks (including risk matrix)
• Determining risk controls
• Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of controls
• Reviewing the effectiveness of action taken to address risks

Methodology

The methodology of this course consists of lecture, discussions, presentations and questions & answers sessions.
