Atovaquone 250 mg, proguanil HCl 100 mg
Indication
Prophylaxis & treatment of Plasmodium falciparum malaria especially in areas where the pathogen may be resistant to other antimalarials.
Instruction
Should be taken with food: Take at the same time each day w/ meals or a milky drink.
Drug interaction
Proguanil may potentiate the anticoagulant effect of warfarin & other coumarin-based anticoagulants. Significant decreases in plasma concentration of atovaquone w/ tetracycline, metoclopramide, rifampicin & rifabutin. Atovaquone may decrease trough levels of indinavir.
