Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), has initiated a comprehensive review and assessment program for common tools involving fault locator equipment and cable jointing tools used within the Distribution Network.
As part of this initiative, Tekno Bumi Sdn Bhd, together with several other approved TNB vendors, was invited to participate in the evaluation process conducted by the Engineering Services Cable Unit.
The purpose of the assessment is to evaluate the current condition, operational status, and overall performance of fault locator assets and cable jointing equipment. The review also aims to identify any damaged, aged, or underperforming tools that may require repair, maintenance, or replacement to ensure continuous operational reliability.
This initiative plays an important role in ensuring that all equipment remains in optimal condition, enabling cable teams to carry out their work more efficiently, safely, and effectively in meeting current operational requirements.
The 3-day program was attended by TNB Fault Locator and Cable Jointer teams from the East Coast Region, covering Kelantan, Terengganu, and Pahang. Similar assessment and training programs are expected to be carried out by TNB for other regions in the near future as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen operational readiness and asset reliability nationwide.
In addition to the assessment and evaluation activities, Tekno Bumi also conducted practical training sessions on 11kV Cable Preparation Tools for cable jointing applications. The training formed part of the requirements under our previous contract and was conducted to enhance technical competency, safe handling practices, and operational efficiency among cable personnel.
Through continuous collaboration with TNB and industry stakeholders, Tekno Bumi remains committed to supporting the development of reliable and high-quality cable maintenance solutions for the Malaysian power distribution industry.
