1. Ducting and Shaft Integrity

  • Fire-Rated Enclosure: We install ducts rated for 2 hours (FRL 120/120/120). This involves encasing the galvanized steel duct in certified fire-rated boards or high-density mineral wool wraps.

  • Pressure Testing: Before the shaft is sealed, we perform Duct Leakage Testing (DW/143). Any leaks in the shaft will prevent the system from reaching the mandatory 50 Pa pressure target.

2. High-Temperature Fan Mounting

3. Air Distribution & Grille Balancing

4. Control Logic and FAMS Integration

  • Fire Alarm Trigger: The system is hardwired into the Fire Alarm Monitoring System (FAMS). Upon a smoke signal, the fans must ramp up to full speed within seconds.

  • VFD Optimization: We install Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) that adjust air volume based on whether the stairwell doors are open or closed, maintaining the balance between smoke rejection and door-opening force.
