Where Every Child Shines in Their Own Way
Every child has a light of their own.
Some children love to express themselves, while others prefer to observe. Some are filled with imagination, while others learn best by moving, building and exploring with their hands.
These differences do not make one child better than another. They simply show that every child has a unique way of growing and learning.
At Glorious Nursery and Preschool, education is not only about teaching children to read, write and count. It is also about helping them recognise their strengths, build confidence and gradually develop the communication, thinking and problem-solving skills they will need for the future.
When children feel understood, accepted and given the opportunity to use their abilities, they become more willing to learn and more courageous when facing new challenges.
Established in 2004, Glorious Nursery and Preschool is located in Batu Maung, Penang, near the Bayan Lepas Phase 4 Free Trade Zone. The school provides Pre-Nursery, Nursery and Kindergarten programmes for children aged 15 months to 6 years.
For more than two decades, Glorious has supported the growth of over 1,000 children. Its educational approach is guided by the concept of Multiple Intelligences—the belief that every child has a different combination of strengths and may learn more effectively in a different way.
True education is not only about preparing a child for school. It is about helping them develop the ability to face life and the future.
In a conventional learning environment, a child’s ability may sometimes be measured mainly through language, writing or mathematics. Yet children can show their potential in many other ways.
Some children respond strongly to music. Some enjoy movement and physical activities. Some are curious about nature, while others are especially aware of people’s feelings or have a vivid visual imagination.
Each of these abilities deserves to be recognised and developed.
Inspired by Howard Gardner’s Theory of Multiple Intelligences, Glorious gives children opportunities to experience language, logic, music, movement, interpersonal relationships, self-awareness, spatial creativity and nature-based observation through varied classroom and hands-on activities.
The purpose is not to label a child according to what they are “good at”. It is to help teachers understand each child more fully and guide them in ways that suit their individual learning needs.
Some children understand quickly by listening. Others need to touch, move or try something for themselves. Some respond well to pictures, music or physical activities, while others need more time to observe before they are ready to participate.
Glorious therefore values active learning both inside and outside the classroom. Children are encouraged to understand ideas through play, exploration, interaction and real experiences.
What matters for the future is not only how much a child knows, but whether they can think, communicate, cooperate and solve problems.
Glorious provides age-appropriate learning and care for different stages of early childhood. From daily routines, sensory exploration and independence to language, thinking, social development and school readiness, children are supported step by step in a stable and positive environment.
Sensory activities, physical development, communication, daily routines and early social experiences help young children build security, expression and essential developmental foundations.
Children learn through play, movement, observation, questions and creative experiences while developing language, coordination, social interaction and different areas of intelligence.
Children build foundations in language, early literacy, mathematics, attention and learning while also developing emotional understanding, teamwork and conflict-resolution skills.
Singapore Phonics, trilingual exposure, iSTEAM exploration, creative expression, character development and social learning support curiosity and learning confidence.
Young children are more willing to explore when they feel safe. They are also more prepared to express themselves when they know they are accepted and respected.
For this reason, Glorious looks beyond how many exercises a child completes. The school also pays attention to how children feel when they arrive each day and how they respond to the people and experiences around them.
When a child faces difficulty, teachers provide guidance. When a child is hesitant to try, they receive encouragement. When a child expresses an emotion, teachers are willing to listen. Even small achievements are recognised as part of the child’s growth.
Through love, reassurance and appropriate guidance, the school aims to help children develop healthy self-worth. Children who believe in themselves are more willing to learn and more prepared to face challenges.
Glorious hopes that children will leave the school with more than academic foundations. The goal is for them to gradually develop:
These abilities support children not only as they enter primary school, but also as they move through different stages of life.
Angee Lim is the founder of Glorious Kids, an education psychologist and a family therapist. She holds a Master’s degree in Education Psychology from Universiti Sains Malaysia and a Bachelor of Arts from Universiti Malaya.
Her professional training also includes Satir Transformation Family Therapy, a Finland Special Needs Children Development certificate and JKM’s Kursus Asuhan Permata.
Her years of experience working with children, families and educators have strengthened her belief that every child is unique. An educator’s role is not only to correct a child’s weaknesses, but to understand, accept and help the child discover their abilities.
Glorious therefore brings together educational psychology, Multiple Intelligences, family relationships and whole-child development to create an environment filled with care, affirmation and opportunities for growth.
A child’s growth does not take place only in the classroom.
Teachers observe how children interact and learn in a group, while parents understand their needs at home. When the school and family communicate openly, they can understand the child more fully and provide more consistent support.
Glorious values the trust placed in the school by every family and hopes to build a long-term educational partnership with parents.
Parents are not simply placing a student in the care of a school. They are entrusting the school with a child who is building the character, confidence and foundations that will shape their future.
This is more than an educational philosophy. It is the kind of childhood experience Glorious hopes to create for every child.
The school does not expect every child to become the same. It aims to help children understand themselves, believe in their abilities and confidently develop their individual strengths.
May every child at Glorious enjoy a happy childhood, grow with confidence and discover the courage to shine in their own way within an environment filled with care, security and opportunities to explore.
