The complementary varietals of Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz were used to craft the Matilda Plains red blend. This wine has been carefully blended to provide a generous and well balanced palate displaying mouth filling fruit, complementing soft well-further enhanced by 10 months maturation in French and American oak barriques.
TASTING NOTES
Nose: Deep ruby to garnet hue, hinting at richness and depth. Typical for Bremerton blends.
Aroma: Opens with ripe red and dark fruits—think cherries, plum, blackberry. Underlying earthy and smoky notes, cedar and savory spice like ground pepper and licorice. A trace of dried mint or savory herb may emerge once fully opened.
Palate: Medium full body, brimming with juicy red–black fruit. Structured with robust, slightly chewy tannins, balanced by smooth oak influence (French & American barrel-aged). Flavours of stewed berries, plum, peppery spice, a touch of vanilla or mocha from oak.
Finish: Persistent, with a modest bitterness from wood and a lingering savory edge.
