The QEED Q-USB-485 is a galvanically isolated USB to RS485 serial converter designed for safe communication with Modbus RTU devices, power meters, signal converters, current transducers, controllers and other RS485 instruments.
It uses an FTDI USB chip and supports Windows certified drivers, allowing quick connection between a PC and RS485 field devices for configuration, commissioning, testing and data communication.
Q-USB-485 provides a safe and convenient way to connect a laptop or PC to RS485 Modbus devices. It is useful during site commissioning, meter configuration, Modbus testing, troubleshooting, firmware work and local communication checks.
The galvanic isolation helps protect the computer and operator from potential differences or electrical noise between the PC side and the RS485 field side, making it more suitable for industrial environments compared with basic non-isolated USB converters.
Galvanic isolation between USB and RS485 helps improve safety and communication reliability. Uses a recognised FTDI USB chipset for stable PC connection and driver support. Suitable for connecting to RS485 Modbus meters, analyzers, transducers and controllers. Windows certified drivers can be downloaded automatically when the PC is connected to the internet. Transparent housing allows viewing of TX, RX and supply LED indicators. Removable connectors make wiring, testing and field commissioning easier. Configure RS485 power meters, energy analyzers and Modbus devices from a PC. Check register maps, slave addresses, baud rate settings and communication response. Useful for site engineers during panel testing and industrial communication setup. Connect to QEED signal converters and RS485 instruments for parameter configuration. Useful for checking RS485 devices before connecting them to EMS, BMS, SCADA or IoT gateways. Helps identify wiring, addressing, baud rate and Modbus communication issues.
In industrial sites, RS485 networks may be connected across different panels, power supplies and grounding points. A basic non-isolated USB converter can expose the connected PC to electrical noise, ground potential differences or wiring faults.
The Q-USB-485 provides galvanic isolation, making it more suitable for commissioning and troubleshooting Modbus devices in panels, machines, energy monitoring systems and automation networks.
Q-USB-485 can be used during the commissioning of RS485 devices that later connect to 3Wire IoT gateways, EMS, BMS, SCADA or IoTWatt 4.0. It is useful for confirming device address, baud rate, register values and communication stability before permanent system integration.
Saturn Pyro supports QEED Q-USB-485 USB to RS485 converters for industrial Modbus communication, meter commissioning, energy monitoring, IoT gateway setup and automation troubleshooting in Malaysia.
