Description

QEED Split-Core Hall Effect Current Sensor

QI-HSC Split-Core Hall Effect AC/DC Current Sensor

The QEED QI-HSC series is a split-core Hall effect current sensor for measuring both AC and DC current. The split-core design allows installation around an existing conductor without disconnecting the cable, making it suitable for retrofit monitoring and commissioning work.

QI-HSC is available in 50A and 100A AC/DC versions. It provides an analogue voltage output proportional to the measured current and is suitable for integration with current / voltage converters, monitoring systems, data loggers, PLC analogue inputs and energy monitoring platforms.

Frequency DC up to 20kHz

Overview

QI-HSC uses Hall effect measurement technology to measure current without direct electrical contact with the primary conductor. This makes it useful for applications where both AC and DC current must be monitored and where conventional AC-only current transformers are not suitable.

The openable split-core construction simplifies retrofit installation. Engineers can clamp the sensor around the conductor without removing cable lugs or interrupting the circuit, reducing installation time and site disruption.

Positioning: Split-core Hall effect AC/DC current sensor for retrofit current measurement, DC systems, inverter outputs, battery systems, UPS, PV, DC motor and industrial monitoring applications.

Key Features

AC/DC Measurement

Measures both alternating current and direct current using Hall effect sensing technology.

Split-Core Design

Openable core allows installation on existing conductors without disconnecting the cable.

Wide Frequency Range

Measures from DC up to 20kHz, making it suitable for inverter and variable waveform applications.

Fast Response

10µs response time supports dynamic current measurement and fast signal response.

Analogue Voltage Output

Provides ±4V output at nominal primary current for integration with measurement equipment.

Primary / Secondary Isolation

3kV isolation between primary and secondary side for safer measurement integration.

Model Selection

Model Nominal Current Measurement Output Typical Application
QI-HSC-50 50A AC/DC ±4V ±1% at nominal current Small DC systems, machine monitoring, battery branch circuits, low-current inverter circuits
QI-HSC-100 100A AC/DC ±4V ±1% at nominal current UPS, battery systems, DC motor circuits, inverter output monitoring and industrial current measurement

Typical Applications

Battery Systems

Measure charge and discharge current in low-voltage DC battery applications.

UPS and DC Power

Monitor DC bus, UPS battery current and telecom DC power circuits.

Inverters and Drives

Measure AC/DC current where waveform shape and frequency may vary.

PV Systems

Suitable for selected DC current monitoring points in photovoltaic systems.

DC Motor Control

Useful for monitoring motor current in DC drive and control applications.

Energy Monitoring

Can be connected to compatible converters, data loggers and monitoring systems.

Integration with Converters and Monitoring Systems

QI-HSC provides an analogue voltage output and requires an auxiliary ±12 to ±15Vdc supply. For Modbus or cloud monitoring applications, the sensor can be connected to a compatible signal converter or analyser such as QE-CURRENT-485, PLC analogue input, data acquisition module or industrial monitoring system.

  • Use with compatible analogue input modules or signal converters
  • Suitable for AC/DC current monitoring where normal CTs cannot measure DC
  • Useful for retrofit applications because the conductor does not need to be disconnected
  • Can be integrated into EMS, SCADA, BMS, IoT gateway or IoTWatt 4.0 architectures through a compatible interface
Selection note: Confirm the current range, cable size, power supply availability and required output interface before ordering. Hall effect sensors need auxiliary power supply and correct signal input compatibility.
