JB-Singapore RTS Link Fares: Latest Estimates & Launch Date

The Johor Bahru–Singapore Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link is set to transform cross-border travel with newly revealed fare estimates ranging between RM15.50 and RM21.70 (S$5 to S$7) per trip.

Transport Minister Anthony Loke recently announced that while these figures are currently estimates, they are designed to be competitive and affordable for the thousands of daily commuters. The final fare structure is expected to be officially gazetted in the second half of 2026, just ahead of the project’s completion.

RTS Link Travel Time & Capacity

Connecting Bukit Chagar (JB) to Woodlands North (Singapore), the 4km rail link promises a significant upgrade to the daily commute:

• 5-Minute Journey: Drastically slashes travel times across the Straits of Johor.
• High-Volume Efficiency: Capacity to transport 10,000 passengers per hour in each direction.
• Congestion Relief: Engineered to reduce the chronic traffic typically seen on the Johor Causeway.

Seamless "Single-Clearance" Immigration & AI Tech

To ensure a frictionless experience, the RTS Link will feature co-located Customs, Immigration, and Quarantine (CIQ) facilities. This "single-clearance" system means passengers only need to clear immigration once at the point of departure.

Modern technology will be at the forefront of this transition, including:

• 100 AI-Enabled E-Gates: Facilitating rapid passenger flow.
• QR-Code Clearance: Integration of digital systems to modernize the border crossing.
• Reduced Manual Processing: A shift toward automated, high-speed transit.

The Future of KTM Shuttle Tebrau

As the project nears its December 2026 operational date, the RTS Link will eventually replace the existing KTM Shuttle Tebrau service. The shuttle is scheduled to cease operations within six months of the RTS launch, positioning the new rail link as the primary artery for travel between Malaysia and Singapore.
