Brilliant red head, shoulders, and chest.
Yellow band across wings.
Blue on wing tips, back, and tail.
Some individuals (South American subspecies) have green on wings between yellow and blue.
Beak: Large, pale horn upper beak with black lower mandible.
Eyes: Pale yellow in adults, dark in juveniles.
