Obaproof F1-188 Cementitious Tile Adhesive

Description: 

• 3mm x 3mm notched trowel: Approx. 2.0-3.0kg/m²
• 6mm x 6mm notched trowel: Approx. 5.0-5.5kg/m²
• 12mm x 12mm notched trowel: Approx. 10-11kg/m²

Uses

Obaproof F1-88 is suitable for bonding ceramic tiles, homogeneous tiles, mosaic, etc. on:

• Both wall and floor
• Internal and external areas
• Conventional cement-sand screeds and renders
• Used with Obaproof Latex 777 for higher bond strength and flexibility

Obaproof F1-188 (25kg) is a water-resistant, cement-based tile adhesive with very good adhesion strength, suitable for thin or medium bed applications. It is designed for fixing ceramic tiles and similar finishes on walls and floors, and can be used in both interior and exterior, dry or wet areas. The adhesive offers good bonding strength, easy installation, excellent water and impact resistance, and is non-flammable and non-toxic, making it a safe and reliable choice for durable tile installations.

 

Surface Preparation

• All substrates must be structurally sound, clean, and free from dust, oil, or contaminants.
• Brick and concrete surfaces must cure for at least 4 weeks before tiling.
• Cement renders and screeds require 7 days curing and a semi-smooth wood float finish.
• Painted surfaces should be roughened; flaking or water-based paint must be removed.

Mixing & Application

• Mix 25kg of F1-188 with 7–8L of clean water or Obaproof Latex 777.
• Apply a thin coat with the smooth side of a trowel, then spread with the toothed side.
• Press tiles firmly into place and adjust within 30 minutes.
• Clean excess adhesive before it sets, and protect from rain or direct sun for 24 hours.
• Tile joints can be grouted after 6–8 hours.

Curing

• Grouting should be delayed for at least 24 hours to allow proper setting.
• On dense or impervious substrates, setting may take longer.

Cleaning

• Tools and hands can be cleaned with water before the adhesive sets.
• Once hardened, removal is difficult and may require mechanical methods.

Limitations

Do not use Obaproof F1-88 to:

• Bond tiles on walls subjected to flexing and vibration
• Bond tiles on metal surfaces
• Bond moisture sensitive stones
