Each gram contains 0.1% gentamicin sulfate, equivalent to 1 mg of gentamicin base.
- Used to treat primary and secondary skin infections caused by susceptible bacteria, including:
- Impetigo contagiosa
- Folliculitis
- Ecthyma
- Furunculosis
- Sycosis barbae
- Pyoderma gangrenosum
- Infected eczema
- Pustular acne
- Infected seborrheic dermatitis
- Infected insect bites and stings
- Infected superficial burns
- Infected lacerations and abrasions
- Wounds from minor surgery
- Infected stasis ulcers
- Bacterial superinfections of fungal or viral infections
Infected skin cysts and certain other skin abscesses when preceded by incision and drainage
Apply a small amount of cream gently to the affected area 3 to 4 times daily. The treated area may be covered with a gauze dressing if desired. In impetigo contagiosa, remove crusts before application to ensure maximum contact between the antibiotic and the infection.
