Nippon Paint Hydro Finish is a high-performance, one-pack water-based acrylic enamel designed to provide a tough, durable finish for both wood and metal surfaces. As a modern, eco-friendly alternative to traditional solvent-based alkyd paints, it offers an extremely low-odor profile and low VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) content, making it ideal for hospitals, schools, hotels, and residential interiors where air quality is a priority.
It features excellent color retention, non-yellowing properties, and a fast-drying formula that allows for rapid project completion. Whether used for doors, trim, or architectural metalwork, Hydro Finish delivers a smooth, professional aesthetic with superior washability and resistance to common household stains.
Paint Type: Water-based Acrylic Enamel.
Finish: Gloss or Soft Matt (depending on selection).
Drying Time: Touch Dry: 30 minutes; Hard Dry: 2 hours (at 30°C).
Recoating Interval: Minimum 2 – 4 hours.
Theoretical Coverage: 10 – 12 m² per litre per coat.
Volume Solids: Approximately 40%.
Shelf Life: Up to 24 months in a tightly sealed container.
Dilution: The paint is ready for use. If thinning is required for better flow, add a maximum of 5% clean water. Avoid over-thinning as it reduces the hiding power and film thickness.
Tools: Apply using a high-quality synthetic brush, a short-nap mohair roller, or a conventional air spray for a smooth, streak-free finish.
Process: Apply two full coats for maximum durability. Ensure the first coat is completely dry before lightly sanding (optional) and applying the final topcoat.
For Metal: 1 coat of Nippon Aqua Primers (Water-based) + 2 coats of Nippon Paint Hydro Finish.
For Wood: 1 coat of Nippon Hydro Primer + 2 coats of Nippon Paint Hydro Finish.
For Masonry (Feature Walls): 1 coat of Nippon 5100 Wall Sealer + 2 coats of Nippon Paint Hydro Finish.
General Cleaning: Ensure the surface is clean, dry, and free from grease, wax, dirt, and other contaminants.
Metal Surfaces: Remove all rust and loose mill scale by wire brushing or sanding. Prime immediately with an anti-corrosive primer to prevent flash rusting.
Wood Surfaces: Sand the surface in the direction of the grain to remove splinters and ensure smoothness. Wipe off all dust before priming.
Previously Painted Surfaces: Remove all loose or peeling paint. Scuff-sand existing glossy coatings to a dull finish to improve inter-coat adhesion.
Moisture Content: Ensure the substrate is dry (wood moisture <15%) to prevent blistering or peeling of the water-based film.
