Paint Type: Solvent-based Acrylic.
Color: Clear (Transparent).
Finish: Satin (Low Sheen).
Drying Time: Touch Dry: 30 minutes; Hard Dry: 1 hour (at 30°C).
Recoating Interval: Minimum 1 – 2 hours.
Theoretical Coverage: 10 – 12 m² per litre per coat (varies significantly based on surface porosity).
Shelf Life: Up to 24 months in a tightly sealed container.
Thinning: This product is supplied ready for use. If thinning is required for highly absorbent surfaces, add a maximum of 5% Nippon General Purpose Thinner.
Application Method: Apply evenly using a high-quality brush or a short-nap roller. Ensure the coating is worked into the crevices of textured stones.
Coat Loading: Avoid over-application in a single thick layer to prevent bubbles; it is better to apply two thin, even coats for a uniform satin look.
First Coat: 1 coat of Nippon Slate Finish (Satin) (acts as its own sealer on porous surfaces).
Final Coat: 1 to 2 coats of Nippon Slate Finish (Satin) (depending on the desired level of protection and sheen).
Thorough Cleaning: The surface must be completely clean, dry, and free from dirt, grease, oil, and loose mortar.
Moisture Check: Ensure the masonry or stone surface is bone dry; applying on a damp surface can cause the film to turn milky or peel.
Fungus Removal: If fungus or algae is present, treat the area with Nippon Fungicidal Wash and rinse thoroughly with fresh water.
Efflorescence Treatment: Ensure any white salty deposits (efflorescence) are scrubbed off and the cause of moisture ingress is repaired before coating.
Old Coatings: For previously coated surfaces, ensure the old paint is compatible or remove it completely by mechanical means or solvent stripping to ensure proper adhesion
