Nippon Paint Aqua Epoxy is a high-performance, two-pack water-based epoxy coating designed for both decorative and protective purposes. Engineered for durability, it provides a tough, chemical-resistant finish for floors and walls, making it an ideal choice for internal areas like car parks, laboratories, warehouses, and factories.
Unlike traditional solvent-based epoxies, Aqua Epoxy is low-odor and eco-friendly, making it perfect for occupied spaces or areas with strict environmental requirements. It offers excellent adhesion and a smooth, easy-to-clean finish that stands up to heavy foot traffic and mild chemical spills.
Paint Type: Two-pack Water-based Epoxy.
Mixing Ratio: 4 parts Base to 1 part Hardener (by volume).
Pot Life: 1 hour after mixing at 30°C.
Drying Time: Touch Dry: 2 hours; Hard Dry: 8 hours (at 30°C).
Recoating Interval: Minimum 8 hours; Maximum 24 hours.
Theoretical Coverage: 7.0 – 9.0 m² per litre per coat (at 50 microns DFT).
Finish: High Gloss / Semi-Gloss (depending on application).
Mixing: Stir the Base and Hardener separately first. Then, add the Hardener into the Base and mix thoroughly using a power agitator for 2–3 minutes until a uniform consistency is reached.
Thinning: If thinning is required for the first coat on porous substrates, add a maximum of 5% – 10% clean water. Do not over-thin for subsequent coats.
Method: Apply using a high-quality roller or brush. For large floor areas, a short-nap mohair roller is recommended to achieve a uniform, bubble-free film.
Sealer/Primer: 1 coat of Aqua Epoxy (thinned 10% with water) or Nippon Aqua Epoxy Primer.
Topcoat: 2 coats of Nippon Paint Aqua Epoxy.
Anti-Slip (Optional): Incorporate Nippon Non-Skid Silica into the final coat for wet areas or ramps.
Moisture Content: Ensure the concrete floor is fully cured (at least 28 days) and the moisture content is below 4%.
Laitance Removal: Remove all concrete laitance, curing compounds, and contaminants through light grit-blasting or mechanical grinding.
Degreasing: Surfaces must be free of oil and grease; use a heavy-duty degreaser or detergent wash followed by thorough rinsing.
Repairing: Fill all cracks, potholes, and surface irregularities with a suitable epoxy putty before application.
Cleanliness: Ensure the substrate is completely dust-free; vacuuming is highly recommended immediately before painting.
