Nippon Paint EA4 Finish is a high-quality two-pack, amine-adduct cured epoxy coating designed for exceptional durability on both metal and concrete surfaces.
Ideally suited for industrial floorings, steelwork, and internal tank linings, this epoxy coating ensures long-lasting protection against corrosion and wear. Its versatile formula makes it a top choice for factories, warehouses, laboratories, and workshops where a clean, hygienic, and resilient surface is paramount.
Product Type: Two-pack amine-adduct cured epoxy (Base and Hardener).
Finish: High Gloss.
Mixing Ratio: 4 parts Base to 1 part Hardener (by volume).
Pot Life: 6–8 hours after mixing (at 25-30°C).
Drying Time (at 30°C): * Touch Dry: 2 hours.
Hard Dry: 16 hours.
APPLICATION INSTRUCTION
Mixing: Stir the Base thoroughly. Add the Hardener and continue stirring until the mixture is completely uniform. Allow a 10–15 minute induction time (sweat-in time) before starting the application.
Application Methods:
Brush/Roller: Ideal for smaller areas; thin up to 10% with Nippon SA-65 Thinner for better workability.
Airless Spray: Recommended for large areas (Tip size: 0.015”–0.017” at 140–170 kg/cm²).
For Concrete Floors:
Primer: 1 coat of Nippon EA4 Finish (diluted 15% with SA-65 Thinner to act as a sealer).
Finish: 2 coats of Nippon EA4 Finish.
For Steel Surfaces:
Primer: 1 coat of Nippon EA9 Red Oxide Primer or Zinc Phosphate Blast Primer.
Finish: 2 coats of Nippon EA4 Finish.
For Tiles/Non-Porous Surfaces:
Primer: 1 coat of Nippon Tile Primer or Nippon Ultra Sealer III.
Finish: 2 coats of Nippon EA4 Finish.
General Cleaning: The surface must be dry and free from grease, oil, dirt, and other contaminants.
Concrete Substrates: Concrete must be cured for at least 28 days. Remove laitance and loose material via acid etching, light grit blasting, or mechanical grinding to ensure a porous surface.
Steel Surfaces: For best results, abrasive blast to Sa 2½. If blasting is not possible, mechanical cleaning to St 3 (power tool cleaning) is required.
Moisture Check: Ensure concrete moisture content is below 6% (measured by a Sovereign moisture meter) and air humidity is below 85%.
Previously Painted Surfaces: Remove all loose or flaking paint. For existing epoxy coatings, the surface must be thoroughly sanded or abraded to provide a mechanical "key" for the new layer
