Nippon Paint PU Recoatable Clear Finish is a premium two-component, high-build, aliphatic acrylic polyurethane coating.
Whether applied to wood, metal, or masonry, it provides an invisible yet robust shield against weathering, chemicals, and physical impact. Its unique "recoatable" property ensures that maintenance is seamless, allowing for long-term protection without the need for extensive surface stripping. It is non-yellowing, retains its gloss over time, and is highly resistant to the harsh tropical climate.
Product Type: Two-pack aliphatic acrylic polyurethane (Base and Hardener).
Mixing Ratio: 4 parts Base to 1 part Hardener (by volume).
Pot Life: 4 hours after mixing (at 25-30°C).
Drying Time (at 25-30°C): * Touch Dry: 2 hours.
Theoretical Coverage: 12.0 m²/litre (at 50 microns DFT).
Volume Solids: Approximately 60% (depending on specific variant).
Mixing Procedure: *Stir the Base component thoroughly first. Gradually add the Hardener while continuing to stir until a completely homogeneous mixture is achieved.
* Allow an induction time of 10–15 minutes before application.
Application Methods:
Brush/Roller: Thin up to 10% with Nippon PU Recoatable Thinner.
Airless Spray: Thin up to 5% with a delivery pressure of 140–170 kg/cm².
Compressed Air Spray: Thin up to 15% for optimal atomization.
For Wood Surfaces: * Primer: 1 coat of Nippon Sanding Sealer (optional for grain filling).
Finish: 2–3 coats of Nippon PU Recoatable Clear Finish.
For Metal/Steel (Protective):
Primer: 1 coat of Nippon EA9 Red Oxide Primer or Zinc Phosphate Blast Primer.
Intermediate: 1 coat of EA9 Finish HB (optional for build).
Topcoat: 2 coats of Nippon PU Recoatable Clear Finish.
For Masonry/Tiles:
Primer: 1 coat of Nippon Tilelac EMA Base or 5100 Wall Sealer.
Topcoat: 2 coats of Nippon PU Recoatable Clear Finish.
General Cleaning: Ensure the surface is completely dry and free from all contaminants including oil, grease, wax, and dust.
Moisture Content: The substrate moisture content must be below 6% for masonry or 12% for wood. Relative humidity during application should not exceed 85%.
New Wood: Sand the surface in the direction of the grain with suitable sandpaper, then dust off. Ensure the wood is free from resins or tannins that might bleed.
Steel Surfaces: For industrial use, abrasive blasting to Sa 2½ is recommended. If blasting is not possible, mechanical cleaning to St 3 is required.
Previously Painted Surfaces: Remove all loose, peeling, or unstable paint. If the existing coating is an old epoxy or PU, the surface must be lightly sanded (abraded) to ensure proper inter-coat adhesion.
