Nippon Paint EA9 Finish HB (High Build) is a premium two-pack, amine-adduct cured epoxy coating designed for superior corrosion protection.
As a food-grade certified epoxy, it is the industry standard for lining storage tanks containing potable water, edible oils (like palm oil), and other aqueous solutions.
TECHNICAL DATA
Product Type: Two-pack amine-adduct cured epoxy (Base and Hardener).
Finish: Low Gloss.
Volume Solids: 55% ± 2% (provides excellent film build per coat).
Mixing Ratio: 9 parts Base to 1 part Hardener (by volume).
Drying Time (at 28-30°C): * Touch Dry: 1–2 hours.
Mixing: Stir the Base component thoroughly.
RECOMMENDED COATING SYSTEM (2-3 Points)
Steel Surfaces:
Primer: 1 coat of EA9 Red Oxide Primer or Nippon Zinc Phosphate Blast Primer.
Finish: 2 coats of EA9 Finish HB.
Concrete/Masonry:
Primer: 1 coat of EA9 Finish HB (diluted 10-15% for penetration).
Finish: 2 coats of EA9 Finish HB.
Non-Ferrous Metal (Aluminium/Galvanised):
Primer: 1 coat of Etching Primer 120 or Vinilex 120 Active Primer.
Finish: 2 coats of EA9 Finish HB.
SURFACE PREPARATION
Steel: For optimum performance, abrasive blasting to Sa 2½ (ISO 8501-1:1988) is required.
Concrete: Surfaces must be fully cured (min. 28 days), clean, and dry. Remove laitance and contaminants via light grit blasting or mechanical grinding.
Moisture Content: Ensure the substrate moisture content is below 6% (measured by a Sovereign moisture meter) and the surface temperature is at least 3°C above the dew point.
