Nippon Paint Momento Clear Coat is a high-performance, water-based clear protective finishing specifically formulated for the Nippon Momento Special Effect series. Designed to enhance the durability of decorative textures, it provides a protective layer that improves washability and resistance against dirt, water, and household stains. This clear coat ensures that your artistic feature walls remain vibrant and protected without altering the unique aesthetic of the underlying Momento finish.

Technical Data

• Paint Type: Water-based Acrylic.

• Appearance: Milky liquid (dries to a completely clear, transparent film).

• Finishing: Low Sheen / Satin.

• Drying Time (at 30°C): Touch Dry: 30 minutes; Hard Dry: 2 hours.

• Recoating Interval: Minimum 2 hours between coats.

• Theoretical Coverage: 10 – 12 m² per litre per coat (varies based on the texture of the substrate).

• Shelf Life: Up to 12 months in a tightly sealed container stored in a cool, dry place.

Application Instruction 

1. Preparation: Ensure the underlying Momento Special Effect paint is completely dry (usually 24 hours after application) before applying the Clear Coat.

2. Application Method: Use a high-quality brush or roller. Apply in a thin, even layer. Avoid over-brushing, which can cause bubbles or uneven sheen.

3. Dilution: The product is ready to use. Thinning with water is not recommended as it may reduce the protective properties and durability of the film.

Recommended Coating System

1. Decorative Layer: 1 coat of Nippon Momento Special Effect Paint (Textured/Enhancer/Stone Art series).

2. Protective Layer (1-2 Coats): Nippon Momento Clear Coat (Apply 2 coats for areas prone to high touch or dirt, such as hallways or dining areas).

Surface Preparation 

1. Dryness Verification: Ensure the previous decorative coat is fully cured and dry to the touch across the entire surface.

2. Dust Removal: Use a soft, dry brush or a lint-free cloth to gently remove any loose dust or particles trapped in the texture.

3. Cleanliness: Ensure there are no oil, grease, or fingerprints on the decorative surface, as these may affect the adhesion of the clear coat.

4. Environment: Apply in a dust-free environment with good ventilation to ensure the clear film dries smoothly without trapping airborne contaminants.

5. Inspection: Check for any "holidays" (unpainted spots) in the decorative layer; ensure the artistic effect is exactly as desired before sealing it permanently with the clear coat
