Instructions for Use:

  1. Power Supply:

    • Connect VCC (Pin 1) to the supply voltage (2.7 V to 5.5 V).
    • Connect GND (Pin 8) to the ground.
  2. Serial Interface Connections:

    • SI (Pin 2): Serial Input (Master to Slave).
    • SCK (Pin 3): Serial Clock.
    • /CS (Pin 4): Chip Select (active low).
    • /WP (Pin 5): Write Protect (active low). Connect to VCC to disable write protection.
    • /HOLD (Pin 6): Hold/Suspend (active low). Connect to VCC to disable hold/suspend.
    • SO (Pin 7): Serial Output (Slave to Master).
  3. Initialization:

    • Ensure that /CS is high when not communicating with the device.
    • Pull /CS low to select the device for communication.
  4. Read Operation:

    • Send the Read command (0x03) followed by the address of the first byte to be read.
    • The device will output the data starting from the specified address.
  5. Write Operation:

    • Send the Write Enable command (0x06) to enable writing.
    • Send the Write command (0x02) followed by the address and the data to be written.
    • Wait for the write cycle to complete (typically 5 ms).
  6. Write Protect:

    • To prevent accidental writes, pull /WP low. This will lock the device from any write operations.
  7. Hold/Suspend:

    • To pause ongoing communication, pull /HOLD low. This will suspend the current operation until /HOLD is released.
  8. Error Handling:

    • Monitor the status of the device using the Status Register (read with command 0x05) to check for any errors or write-in-progress conditions.
  9. Power Management:

    • To reduce power consumption, ensure that /CS is high when the device is not in use, putting it into standby mode.
