Instructions for Use:

  1. Power Supply:

    • Connect the VDD pin to the desired supply voltage within the range of 2.7V to 5.5V.
    • Connect the VLOGIC pin to the logic supply voltage for the SPI interface, which can be between 1.65V and 5.5V.
  2. SPI Interface:

    • The AD5220 supports standard SPI communication. Ensure that the SPI clock frequency does not exceed 10 MHz.
    • Connect the CS (Chip Select), SCLK (Serial Clock), MOSI (Master Out Slave In), and MISO (Master In Slave Out) pins to the corresponding SPI lines on your microcontroller or control system.
  3. Resistance Adjustment:

    • Use the SPI interface to write to the appropriate registers to set the wiper position and adjust the resistance.
    • The wiper position can be set using the command register, which controls the resistance between the wiper and the A/B terminals.
  4. Thermal Management:

    • Ensure that the device operates within the specified temperature range (-40°C to 85°C) to avoid damage.
    • For extended storage, keep the device within the storage temperature range (-65°C to 150°C).
  5. Handling:

    • Handle the device with care to avoid static discharge, which can damage the sensitive components.
    • Follow proper ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) precautions during handling and installation.
  6. Testing:

    • After installation, verify the functionality by reading back the wiper position and measuring the resistance between the A and B terminals.
    • Use a multimeter to measure the resistance and ensure it matches the expected value based on the wiper position.
