- 10 (Q6): 6th stage output
- 11 (Q5): 5th stage output
- 12 (Q4): 4th stage output
- 13 (Q3): 3rd stage output
- 14 (Q2): 2nd stage output
- 15 (Q1): 1st stage output
- 16 (VDD): Power supply
- 9 (R1): Oscillator resistor input
- 10 (R2): Oscillator resistor input
- 11 (C1): Oscillator capacitor input
2. Oscillator Circuit
The CD4060BE can be used as a simple oscillator by connecting an external resistor (R1) and capacitor (C1) between the oscillator pins (9, 10, and 11).
- R1 and R2 are connected to the oscillator input.
- C1 is connected between the oscillator input and ground.
3. Frequency Calculation
The frequency of the oscillator can be calculated using the following formula:
[ f = frac{2.3 times R times C} ]
Where:
- ( f ) is the frequency in Hz.
- ( R ) is the resistance in ohms.
- ( C ) is the capacitance in farads.
4. Output Stages
The CD4060BE has 14 output stages (Q1 to Q14). Each stage divides the input frequency by 2, providing a binary count sequence.
5. Powering the IC
- Connect the power supply (VDD) to pin 16.
- Connect the ground (GND) to pin 8.
6. Using the Outputs
- The outputs (Q1 to Q14) can be used to drive other logic circuits or LEDs.
- Ensure that the load on each output does not exceed the maximum output current ratings.
7. Reset Function
- The reset function is not available on the CD4060BE. To reset the counter, you can use an external reset circuit or simply power cycle the IC.
8. Operating Conditions
- Ensure that the operating temperature and supply voltage are within the specified ranges to avoid damage to the IC.
9. Storage Conditions
- Store the IC in a dry environment to prevent moisture damage.
By following these instructions, you can effectively use the CD4060BE in your digital circuits.
