As an HVAC and Clean Air Specialist, we match the cooling technology to the specific hazardous zone classification:
Zone 1 (High Risk): For areas where explosive atmospheres are likely to occur in normal operation. We utilize Flameproof (Ex d) or Encapsulated (Ex m) components. Often, we design "Split Systems" where the indoor evaporator is Ex-rated for Zone 1, while the outdoor condenser is placed in a Safe Zone or Zone 2.
Zone 2 (Medium Risk): For areas where explosive atmospheres are unlikely but possible. We utilize Non-Sparking (Ex nA) or Restricted Breathing (Ex nR) enclosures, which are more cost-effective while maintaining a high safety factor.
