In the large-scale industrial and commercial spaces of Kuala Lumpur and Selangor, managing air stagnation in expansive areas like basement car parks, loading bays, and high-ceiling factories is a major M&E challenge. High-Velocity Industrial Jet Fans (also known as induction fans or impulse fans) are designed to move large volumes of air over long distances without the need for bulky, expensive ductwork.
EKG M&E Sdn Bhd specializes in the strategic placement, structural mounting, and VSD-integrated control of jet fan systems to ensure your facility remains safe and well-ventilated.
Unlike traditional centrifugal fans that "push" air through a duct, jet fans use Impulse Technology based on the Bernoulli principle.
Jet fans are suspended from the ceiling and discharge air at very high velocities (typically 20m/s to 35m/s).
The Momentum Effect: This high-speed "jet" of air creates a pressure drop behind the fan, pulling in the surrounding stagnant air. This creates a massive "secondary" airflow that can move air up to 30–50 meters away from the fan unit.
Cost Efficiency: By eliminating the need for galvanized iron (GI) ductwork, we significantly reduce the "Static Pressure" load on the system and lower your initial capital expenditure (CAPEX).
In the event of a fire, jet fans are a critical part of the BOMBA-compliant smoke extraction strategy.
Smoke Containment: We program the fans to operate at high speeds to "shove" smoke toward the main extraction shafts, keeping emergency exit routes clear for occupants.
High-Temperature Ratings: Our industrial jet fans are typically rated for F300 (300°C for 2 hours) or F400, ensuring they continue to operate even in intense heat.
As an HVAC and Clean Air Specialist, we ensure your jet fan network is synchronized with your building’s "lungs."
Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) Modulation:
Running high-velocity fans at 100% 24/7 is a waste of energy. We integrate CO (Carbon Monoxide) and NO2 sensors. When gas levels are low, the VFD slows the fans to a "trickle" speed. The moment a spike is detected (e.g., during peak traffic or machinery operation), the VFD ramps them up to clear the zone.
Building Pressure Management:
Jet fans must be balanced with Fresh Air Supply and main Extract Fans. We calibrate the system to maintain a slight Positive Pressure in elevator lobbies and stairwells, ensuring smoke and industrial fumes cannot infiltrate safe zones.
Acoustic Mitigation:
High-velocity air can be noisy. We utilize integrated Acoustic Silencers on the inlet and outlet of each jet fan to ensure the facility meets local noise decibel (dB) requirements.
| Feature | Ducted Ventilation | EKG M&E Jet Fan System |
| Installation Cost | High (Ductwork & Hangers). | Low (Ductless / Compact). |
| Headroom Space | Heavy (Lowers ceiling). | Minimal (High-clearance). |
| Energy Usage | High (High Static Pressure). | Lower (Reduced System Resistance). |
| Emergency Use | Basic extraction. | Dynamic Smoke Steering. |
Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Analysis: Before installation, we can provide a CFD Simulation to prove there are no "Dead Zones" in your facility and that the air change rate (ACR) meets DOSH (JKKP) standards.
Total System Integration: We ensure your jet fans are fully interlocked with your Fire Alarm System and BMS for real-time safety monitoring.
Klang Valley Strategic Support: Based in Kuala Lumpur, we provide turnkey design, structural mounting, and scheduled maintenance for basement car parks, logistics hubs, and manufacturing plants.
