In the high-density urban landscape of KL and PJ, Mechanical Smoke and Heat Exhaust Systems (MSHE) are the most critical active fire protection components for large-scale buildings. Unlike natural vents that rely on wind, MSHE systems use high-powered fans to forcibly "flush" toxic gases and heat from a fire zone. EKG M&E Sdn Bhd specializes in engineering these systems to meet the strict BOMBA and Uniform Building By-Laws (UBBL) standards.
The primary goal of an MSHE system is to create and maintain a "Smoke-Free Layer" at the floor level. This allows occupants to see their exit paths and provides emergency responders with a clear, cooler environment to tackle the fire source.
High-Volume Smoke Spill (10 ACH):
We engineer the system to achieve a minimum of 10 Air Changes Per Hour (ACH). This rapid extraction prevents the "Smoke-Log" effect, where an entire room or atrium fills with thick, black smoke in minutes.
Thermal Buoyancy Management:
As fire produces hot, buoyant gases, they rise. Our MSHE fans are strategically positioned at the highest point of the ceiling or roof to extract the hottest gases first, preventing "Flashover" (the spontaneous ignition of all surfaces in a room).
Replacement (Make-Up) Air Logic:
For every cubic meter of smoke exhausted, a cubic meter of fresh air must enter the building. We utilize motorized louvers or dedicated supply fans at a low level to prevent "Negative Pressure," which would suction exit doors shut and trap occupants inside.
High-Temperature Axial Fans (Class H):
Our fans are certified to operate at 250°C for at least 2 hours. They are equipped with heavy-duty casings and heat-resistant motors to ensure the "Lungs" of the building don't fail during an emergency.
Fire-Rated Smoke Extract Ducting:
We utilize ductwork that meets BS 476-24 standards, often reinforced with intumescent coatings or specialized mineral wool wraps to maintain structural integrity under extreme thermal stress.
VFD Emergency Override:
While Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) manage daily ventilation efficiency, they are programmed with a "Fire-Mode." Upon a signal from the Main Fire Alarm Panel (MFAP), all energy-saving limits are bypassed to run the fans at 100% capacity immediately.
Motorized Smoke Dampers:
These dampers are installed at every fire-rated wall penetration. They are interlocked to snap open in the fire zone (to allow extraction) and snap shut in unaffected zones (to prevent smoke spread).

HVAC & Clean Air Specialist: We ensure that your "Smoke Mode" logic is flawless. We perform Airflow Visualization (Smoke Testing) post-installation to provide visual proof that the extraction path is effective and free of "dead zones."
Testing & Commissioning (T&C): We provide the comprehensive reports and "Form G/F" certifications required for your annual Fire Certificate (FC) renewal.
Klang Valley Strategic Support: Based in Kuala Lumpur, we provide priority 24/7 maintenance and emergency response for MSHE systems across the Klang Valley's premier commercial and industrial sites.
