A commercial facility requires a "Zoned" approach to smoke management. We ensure that smoke produced in one area (e.g., a pantry or a retail lot) does not infiltrate the rest of the building.
Mechanical Smoke Spill Extraction (10 ACH)
Upon fire detection, our high-capacity axial fans activate to "flush" the affected zone. We engineer these systems to provide a minimum of 10 Air Changes Per Hour (ACH), rapidly removing heat and smoke to maintain visibility at the floor level.
Motorized Smoke and Fire Dampers
To prevent the HVAC ductwork from acting as a "highway" for smoke, we install motorized dampers at every fire-rated wall penetration. These are interlocked with the fire alarm system to snap shut instantly, isolating the fire zone.
Stairwell and Lift Lobby Pressurization
To keep escape routes 100% smoke-free, we utilize Positive Pressure. We install dedicated fans that pump fresh air into stairwells at a pressure of 50 Pa. This ensures that when a fire door is opened, air blows out, pushing smoke away from the fleeing occupants.
Replacement (Make-Up) Air Logic
For every cubic meter of smoke extracted, we must supply a cubic meter of fresh air. We utilize motorized louvers or dedicated fresh air fans to prevent the building from becoming "negative-pressured," which would make exit doors physically impossible to open.
VFD-Driven Emergency Mode
While we use Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) for daily ventilation energy savings, the system features a "Fire Mode" override. This bypasses all motor protection and energy limits to run fans at 100% capacity immediately upon a fire signal.
