Unlike mechanical fans that require electricity, ASVs rely on the "Stack Effect." As a fire develops, hot smoke rises and collects at the ceiling. By opening a vent at the highest point, the smoke is exhausted naturally, which prevents "flashover"—the point where every combustible surface in a room ignites simultaneously due to radiant heat.
Thermal Release Mechanisms:
Each vent is equipped with a "Fusible Link" or a high-temperature bulb. When the ambient temperature reaches a set point (typically 68 to 93 degrees Celsius), the link melts, and a heavy-duty gas spring or actuator forces the vent open.
Fire Alarm Integration:
For modern commercial buildings in the Klang Valley, we interlock ASVs with the Main Fire Alarm Panel (MFAP). Upon a smoke detector signal, a 24V DC signal triggers an electric actuator to open the vents before the heat even reaches the ceiling.
Smoke Reservoir Design:
In large open-plan factories, we install "Smoke Curtains" alongside the vents. This creates a "Reservoir" that traps smoke in a specific roof bay, allowing the vent in that zone to exhaust it more efficiently without letting the smoke spread across the entire facility.
Dual-Purpose Daylighting and Ventilation:
Many of our ASV models feature translucent polycarbonate lids. This allows them to function as skylights during normal operation, reducing your facility's lighting energy costs while providing the option for natural "Daily Ventilation" to lower indoor temperatures.
