Eliminate the guesswork of measuring pin sizes with our Universal 5.5mm DC Power Plug. Engineered with a specialized internal contact system, this male barrel connector is uniquely compatible with both 2.1mm and 2.5mm center pins. Whether you are repairing a standard 12V router (2.1mm) or a high-powered laptop adapter (2.5mm), this "Hybrid" plug ensures a snug, reliable fit across the two most popular DC standards in the world.
Universal Repair Kits: The perfect "emergency" plug for repair shops to keep in stock when the exact pin size of a device is unknown.
High-Wattage & Standard Devices: Works seamlessly with both low-draw electronics (CCTV, Arduino) and high-draw equipment (Laptops, LED Drivers).
Test Bench Cables: Create a single test lead that can power almost any 5.5mm DC-enabled device in your workshop.
Field Service: Ideal for technicians who need to replace power tips on various brands of networking gear or security hardware.
Dual-Compatible Internal Contact: Features flexible spring-tensioned contacts that grip a 2.1mm pin tightly while expanding to accommodate a 2.5mm pin.
Durable Solder Terminals: High-quality internal solder buckets
Screw-On Strain Relief: Includes a rugged plastic housing and a flexible boot to protect the cable from the stress of frequent plugging and pulling.
Ultimate Versatility: Saves time and money by reducing the number of different plug sizes you need to carry in your toolkit.
Heat-Resistant Insulator: Built to withstand professional soldering temperatures without the internal contacts shifting or melting.
Secure Mechanical Grip: The spring-loaded design prevents the "wiggle" often found when using mismatched standard plugs.
Connector Type: Universal DC Barrel Plug (Male)
Size: 5.5mm (Outer Diameter) x 2.1mm/2.5mm (Universal Inner)
Barrel Length: Standard 9mm
Rating: Max 12V–30V DC / 5A–7A (Depending on wire used)
Assembly: Solder-type with screw-on shell
How can it fit both sizes?
It uses "forked" or "spring-leaf" contacts inside the barrel. For a 2.1mm pin, the springs stay tight. For a 2.5mm pin, the pin pushes the springs outward while maintaining a firm electrical connection.
Is it safe for high current?
Yes. Because the springs create a high-surface-area contact, these are often rated for higher current than cheap, fixed-size plastic plugs.
Will this fit my 3.5mm or 4.0mm jack?
No. This is only for 5.5mm outer diameter ports. It only solves the confusion between the 2.1mm and 2.5mm inner pin differences.
