Content (Composition)

• Active Ingredient: Each 5 /ml contains 200 /mg acyclovir.
• Inactive Ingredients: Includes sorbitol solution 70% (non-crystallising), glycerol, dispersible cellulose, methyl parahydroxybenzoate, propyl parahydroxybenzoate, banana flavour, vanillin, and purified water.
• Formulation: Off-white, banana-flavoured suspension for oral use.

• Herpes Simplex Infections: Treatment of initial and recurrent genital herpes (excluding neonatal HSV and severe HSV infections in immunocompromised children).
• Suppression of Recurrent Herpes Simplex Infections: Prevention of recurrences in immunocompetent patients.
• Prophylaxis of Herpes Simplex Infections: In immunocompromised patients.
• Varicella (Chickenpox) and Herpes Zoster (Shingles): Treatment of infections.

• Dosage:
  • Adults:
    • Herpes Simplex Infections: 200 /mg (5 /ml) five times daily at approximately 4-hour intervals, omitting the night-time dose, for 5 days. In severe cases, the dose may be doubled.
    • Suppression of Recurrent Infections: 200 /mg (5 /ml) four times daily at approximately 6-hour intervals, or 400 /mg (10 /ml) twice daily at approximately 12-hour intervals.
    • Herpes Zoster (Shingles): 800 /mg (20 /ml) five times daily for 7 to 10 days.
    • Varicella (Chickenpox): 800 /mg (20 /ml) four times daily for 5 days.
  • Children:
    • Herpes Simplex Infections and Prophylaxis: Children aged 2 years and over should be given adult dosages. Children under 2 years should receive half the adult dose.
    • Varicella (Chickenpox):
      • 6 years and over: 800 /mg (20 /ml) four times daily.
      • 2 to 5 years: 400 /mg (10 /ml) four times daily.
      • Under 2 years: 200 /mg (5 /ml) four times daily.
• Administration:
  • For oral use only.
  • Shake the bottle well before use.
  • Measure each dose using the provided measuring spoon.
  • May be taken with or without food.
• Storage:
  • Store at room temperature, below 25°C.
  • Keep the bottle tightly closed.
  • Dispose of any unused medicine 4 weeks after opening the bottle.
