Proton eMas 5 Confirmed for October 30 Launch

The wait is nearly over — Proton has officially set the launch date for the eMas 5. After a series of teaser posts by Pro-Net, the latest update revealed a countdown that points to October 30 as the big day, accompanied by the tagline “An EV for every Malaysian.”

Positioned to be the most affordable electric vehicle in Malaysia, the Proton eMas 5 has been available for booking since October 4, and early response has been strong — over 3,000 bookings were collected within the first week.

The eMas 5 will come in two variants: Prime and Premium, with estimated prices of RM60,000 and RM80,000 respectively. Both versions feature rear-wheel drive, with the Prime variant producing 79 PS and 130 Nm of torque, powered by a 30.12 kWh LFP battery that delivers a 225 km WLTP range. Meanwhile, the Premium model ups the game with 116 PS and 150 Nm, and a larger 40.16 kWh battery, offering a 325 km range.

We’ve already had an early drive of the eMas 5 — check out our first impressions and video review. The model will feature a Flint Grey interior as standard, while Marble Cream and Quartz Rose exterior colours get the exclusive Alabaster White cabin theme reserved for the Premium trim.

Will Proton surprise us with an even lower launch price or a special early bird promo? All will be revealed on October 30.
