Why does my car player say "No Disc" even though the motor is spinning? While a spinning motor is a good sign, if the motor cannot reach the exact required RPM or has too much "wobble," the laser will fail to read the disc. Replacing an aging motor with a fresh 4.2V unit often restores read stability.
Is this motor compatible with 5V systems? This motor is rated for 4.2V. While it may spin on 5V, the higher voltage can cause it to run too hot or wear out prematurely. It is best used with a voltage regulator if your source is higher than 4.2V.
Which wire is which? Standard convention for these motors is Red for Positive (+) and Black for Negative (-). Reversing them will reverse the spin direction, which will prevent a DVD player from reading the disc.
