Recommended dose: 40 /mg once daily in the evening. Maximum dose up to 80 /mg once at night, depending on LDL C response and patient tolerance
Administration: Swallow the tablet whole with water; take at a consistent time each day, preferably after dinner or before bedtime; may be taken with or without food; avoid excessive grapefruit juice (>1 L/day) due to significant drug interactions
Precautions: Contraindicated in active liver disease, unexplained persistent transaminase elevations, pregnancy, and breastfeeding. Monitor liver enzymes (LFTs) and creatine kinase (CK) periodically. Use cautiously in renal/hepatic impairment and avoid combination with interacting drugs (e.g. fibrates, macrolides, azole antifungals, immunosuppressants)
