The Static Pile Load Test is one of the most accurate ways to determine a pile's load-carrying capability under actual loading circumstances. This test, performed in line with standards such as ASTM D1143 or BS EN ISO 22477-1, includes applying incremental loads to the pile head while carefully monitoring settlement or deflection. It may be used to both compression and tension piles. The findings provide useful insights into real pile behavior and foundation settlement under service loads, serving as a baseline for geotechnical design validation. Despite its time and logistical requirements, it remains the gold standard for assessing pile capacity.
