Each 2 mL ampoule contains:
-Furosemide: 20 mg
Indications:
-Edema: Used to reduce edema (fluid buildup) in patients with congestive heart failure, liver cirrhosis, renal disease, and acute pulmonary edema.
-Hypertension: Sometimes used as an adjunct treatment for hypertension, especially when other diuretics are not sufficient.
-Hypercalcemia: Can be used to manage hypercalcemia (high levels of calcium in the blood) by increasing the excretion of calcium.
Instructions:
Dosage:
-Adults: Initially, doses of 20-50 mg may be administered by the intramuscular route, or by slow intravenous injection at a rate not exceeding 4 mg/minute. If larger doses are required, they should be given as a controlled infusion at a rate not exceeding 4 mg/minute and titrated according to the response.
-Elderly: Dosage should be titrated until the required effect is achieved, as elimination of furosemide is generally slower in the elderly.
-Pediatric Population: Dosages for children range from 0.5-1.5 mg/kg weight daily up to a maximum total daily dose of 20 mg.
Administration: Administer by intramuscular or intravenous injection. Ensure the injection is given slowly to avoid rapid diuresis.
