Gliclazide
Indication
Non-insulin-dependent diabetes (type 2), in association w/ dietary measures & w/ physical exercise, when these measures alone are not sufficient to obtain normal blood glucose levels.
Instruction
Should be taken with food: Take at breakfast. Swallow whole.
Drug interaction
Increased hypoglycaemic effect w/ miconazole, phenylbutazone & alcohol. Potentiates blood glucose-lowering effect w/ other antidiabetic agents, β-blockers, fluconazole, ACEIs, H2-antagonists, MAOIs, sulphonamides & NSAIDs. Increased blood glucose levels w/ danazol, chlorpromazine, glucocorticoids, ritodrine, salbutamol & terbutaline. May lead to potentiation of anticoagulation during concurrent treatment.
