In the tropical climate of Kuala Lumpur and Selangor, ventilating a large warehouse often means bringing in hot, humid 32°C air and exhausting cooled, conditioned air. This creates a massive "Thermal Waste" that spikes your TNB electricity bills. Energy Recovery Ventilation (ERV) is the M&E solution that captures the "coolth" and dryness from your exhaust air and transfers it to the incoming fresh air.
EKG M&E Sdn Bhd specializes in integrating ERV technology into industrial HVAC systems, allowing you to meet DOSH (JKKP) fresh air requirements while reducing your cooling load by up to 30%.
The heart of an ERV is the Enthalpy Core (or Heat Exchange Wheel). As the two airstreams pass through the unit, they never mix, but they exchange energy.
In a typical KL warehouse, the indoor air is cooler than the outdoor air. The ERV core absorbs the heat from the incoming fresh air and transfers it to the outgoing exhaust air.
The Result: Fresh air enters the building at a significantly lower temperature, reducing the work required by your Chiller or AC units.
This is critical for the Klang Valley. The ERV’s desiccant-coated core pulls moisture out of the humid incoming air and transfers it to the drier exhaust air.
The Result: It physically lowers the Dew Point of the incoming air, preventing "Sweaty Slab Syndrome" and protecting moisture-sensitive inventory from mold.
As an HVAC and Clean Air Specialist, we ensure the ERV is the "Lungs" of a high-efficiency building:
Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) Optimization:
We don't run ERV fans at a fixed speed. We integrate VSD/VFDs that modulate based on $CO_2$ or VOC sensors. When the warehouse is empty, the system ramps down; during peak activity, it ramps up to maintain the required Air Change Rate (ACR).
Building Pressure Management:
We calibrate the ERV to maintain a slight Positive Pressure. This ensures that while we are recovering energy, we are also pushing air out through loading bays to keep street dust and unfiltered humidity from leaking in.
Bypass Mode (Free Cooling):
During the rare cool KL mornings or rainy periods where outdoor air is cooler than indoor air, the ERV enters "Bypass Mode," bringing in fresh air directly without exchange to provide free natural cooling.
| Feature | Standard Exhaust Fan | EKG M&E ERV System |
| Energy Efficiency | Zero (Wastes conditioned air). | High (Recovers 60-80% of Energy). |
| Humidity Control | None (Brings in wet air). | Active (Dehumidifies intake). |
| Air Quality | Basic. | High (Integrated G4/F7 Filtration). |
| TNB Cost Impact | High Cooling Load. | Significant Reduction in OpEx. |
Return on Investment (ROI) Analysis: We provide a professional energy model to show exactly how many months it will take for the electricity savings to pay for the ERV installation.
Total System Integration: We ensure your ERV is fully interlocked with your BMS and Fire Alarm (BOMBA) system for emergency shutdown.
Klang Valley Strategic Support: Based in Kuala Lumpur, we provide turnkey design, structural mounting, and scheduled "Clean Air" maintenance for logistics hubs and manufacturing plants.
