1. Is this the same as a standard 3.5mm headphone jack?
No. While it looks similar in size, this is an Optical plug. It will only work in ports that support "Optical Out" via a 3.5mm combo jack. It will not work in a standard analog-only headphone port.
2. Why is there no sound?
Ensure you have removed the tiny clear plastic protective caps from both ends of the cable before plugging it in. Also, check that your device’s output is set to "Digital/Optical Out" in the sound settings.
3. Does it support 5.1 Surround Sound?
