JPJ Announces Counter Closures During Upcoming Long Holiday Period
Malaysia’s Road Transport Department (JPJ) has announced temporary counter closures in conjunction with the upcoming series of public holidays, which are expected to create an extended long weekend across the country.
The holidays include Hari Raya Aidiladha on May 27, the Yang di-Pertuan Agong’s Birthday on June 1, and Wesak Day on June 2. In response, JPJ offices nationwide will operate on adjusted schedules depending on the state.
According to the department, JPJ offices in Kelantan and Terengganu will be closed from May 26 until June 1, while Kedah branches will suspend operations from May 27 to June 1. In Perlis, closures will take place on May 27-28 and again on June 1-2. For all other states, JPJ counters will not operate on May 27 and June 1-2.
Motorists are advised to plan ahead and complete important transactions such as road tax renewals, driving licence renewals, and vehicle ownership matters before the holiday period to avoid delays.
