The Vaisala CARBOCAP Carbon Dioxide Probe GMP343 is a highly accurate and rugged instrument designed to measure environmental carbon dioxide (CO ) levels. It is widely used by researchers and industries because it can withstand tough outdoor environments while providing precise gas data.
Key Specifications
- Sensor Technology: Uses the patented Vaisala CARBOCAP Silicon NDIR Sensor for single-beam, dual-wavelength infrared light measurements.
- Measurement Options: Available in ranges starting from 0 to 1000 ppm, all the way up to 0 to 2% (20,000 ppm) CO .
- No Moving Parts: The internal design has zero moving pieces, which makes it long-lasting and requires very low maintenance.
- Rugged Outer Shell: Features a tough IP67-rated anodized aluminum housing that protects the internal electronics from harsh weather.
- Low Power Usage: Operates on 11 to 36 VDC and consumes under 1 Watt of power, making it great for remote field stations.
Product Configurations
The probe is available in two distinct physical models depending on how you plan to sample the air:
- Diffusion Model: Features an open-path filter cap that allows surrounding air to naturally pass through the sensor. It is perfect for open outdoor monitoring.
- Flow-Through Model: Features a sealed chamber with entry and exit ports. This layout allows you to pump a specific gas sample directly through the device.
Primary Applications
- Soil Respiration: Measuring the CO gas released by microbes and plant roots inside soil ecosystems.
- Ambient Air Monitoring: Tracking greenhouse gas changes in forests, fields, or industrial areas.
- Plant Growth Chambers: Keeping tight control over carbon dioxide levels in agricultural research green rooms.
- In-Situ Research: Coupling the probe to a Vaisala MI70 Indicator Handheld for immediate, on-the-spot field data logging.
