D-103 is a heat detector used in fire alarm systems to detect abnormal increases in temperature (due to fire). It is typically installed on ceilings or walls in buildings as part of a conventional fire-alarm circuit. It sends an alarm when either the temperature rises rapidly (rate-of-rise) or when a fixed (preset) high temperature is reached, thus providing fire detection coverage in spaces where smoke detectors maybe less suitable (e.g., dusty, smoky, or high-airflow areas)
