I. Preparation:
1. Download the Tuya Smart app from the App Store or Google Play
2. Prepare your network:
The meter must be located in an area with a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network (5GHz is not supported).
The Wi-Fi must be stable, and the router should not have MAC address filtering enabled.
3. Ensure the meter is connected to a power source.
II. Connection Steps (using the Tuya Smart app as an example):
Method 1: Automatic Identification and Adding (Recommended)
1. Open the Tuya Smart app → Log in/Register an account
2. Tap the "+" icon in the top right corner of the homepage → Select "Add Device"
3. Select Category: Energy → Smart Energy Meter
4. Follow the app's instructions to put the meter into network configuration mode:
Press and hold the Settings/Network Configuration button (usually the Reset button or the button with the Wi-Fi icon) on the meter for about 5 seconds. The indicator light will flash rapidly, indicating that the meter has entered network configuration mode.
5. Enter your Wi-Fi password in the app → Start pairing
6. Wait for the device to connect successfully (approximately 1–2 minutes)
7. Name the device and complete setup
Method 2: Scan QR Code to Add
1. If the meter has a QR code (Tuya standard device):
Select "Scan QR Code to Add Device" in the app.
Scan the QR code on the meter to add it.
3. After successful connection, you can view:
Real-time power usage (forward/reverse power)
Total power usage and historical records
Remote power off/on (if supported)
Alarm reminders, etc.
4. Common Problems and Solutions:
Problem Solution
Connection failed. Ensure you are using 2.4GHz Wi-Fi and try again closer to the router.
Can't find the meter device type. Select "Add Manual Device" → "Energy" category.
Indicator light is not flashing. Press and hold the Reset button or check the manual to confirm the network configuration method (some use AP mode).
Meter does not support network configuration. Verify it is a Tuya smart meter (non-smart models cannot connect to the app).
