Bachelor of Education Teaching English as a Second Language UM-SATU (University Malaya) is a 4-year, full-time, on-campus bachelor's programme delivered in English at Universiti Malaya, Kuala Lumpur ― designed to develop qualified teachers of English as a second language with strong foundations in TESL methodology, linguistics, ESL classroom pedagogy, assessment, syllabus design and professional teaching practice.

The curriculum spans foundations of TESL methodology, linguistics for language teachers, grammar, listening, speaking, reading and writing in the ESL classroom, phonetics and phonology, syllabus design and materials development, simulated and micro teaching, assessment and evaluation for ESL, industrial experience, practicum, academic projects, integrative seminar in TESL and programme open electives ― supported by educational psychology, ethics and legislation in education and student holistic empowerment courses.

Graduates are equipped for careers as TESL Teacher, English Language Instructor, ESL Program Coordinator, TESL Program Director, Curriculum Developer, Instructional Designer, Language Assessment Specialist, Educational Consultant and Academic Researcher ― or to pursue postgraduate study at University Malaya.
