Nippon Paint Fibercote is a premium water-based acrylic coating specifically developed to protect and beautify fiber cement surfaces. It is uniquely formulated to provide a natural wood-like appearance to cement-based materials such as wood-replacement planks, siding, eaves, and fascia boards. This translucent pigmented varnish penetrates deep into the substrate, offering superior adhesion and long-lasting durability. It features excellent resistance to alkalinity, weathering, and UV rays, ensuring that surfaces do not fade or peel under harsh tropical conditions. Additionally, its anti-fungus and anti-algae properties keep exterior features clean and aesthetically pleasing.
Paint Type: Water-based (100% Acrylic Emulsion)
Finishing: Translucent Satin / Sheen
Recommended Substrate: Fiber Cement and Composite Board
No. of Coats: 2 – 3 coats
Theoretical Coverage: 10 – 12 m² per litre per coat (Dependent on substrate porosity)
Hard Dry: 1 hour
Recoating Interval: 2 – 3 hours
Volume Solids: ~21% - 28%

Cleaning: Clean all tools and equipment with clean water immediately after use.
Standard System (For Fiber Cement):
Basecoat (Optional): 1 coat of Nippon Timbershade (Light Grey or Light Beige) is recommended to embellish the substrate appearance and help create a closer natural wood grain finish.
Topcoat: 2 – 3 coats of Nippon Fibercote.
Decking / High Durability System:
Basecoat: 1 coat of Timbershade.
Topcoat: 2 – 3 coats of Fibercote.
Protective Clear: 1 coat of PU Recoatable Clear Coat (for enhanced durability on walkable surfaces).
General Cleaning: Remove all loose, powdery residues, dust, oil, and foreign matter by wire brushing or scraping.
Moisture & Alkalinity: New fiber cement boards must be fully cured. Ensure moisture content is below 16% and alkalinity is below pH 9.
Fungus Treatment: Treat any areas affected by fungus or algae growth with Nippon Fungicidal Wash. Rinse with water and allow to dry.
Repair: Fill cracks or uneven surfaces with a suitable putty/filler. Pro Tip: Dilute the filler with 15-25% of the finish paint to ensure patching marks are less visible under the translucent coat.
Sanding: Smoothen repaired areas with sandpaper and ensure the surface is completely dry before painting.
